If you really want to get listed in the search engines, you have to be LINKED TO from another website that is already listed in the search engines. Submit your site to free directory sites and the search engines WILL find you, and if your site is well-optimized for a particular keyword or keywords, then you may get ranked high enough to be on page 1. Submitting is a waste of time. I haven't bothered to submit a client site to the engines in 3 years as I have never found submitting via the search engines to actually help get indexed faster, or even at all without doing everything else you need to do. This advice goes for google, yahoo, and msn.
